Amsterdam, Netherlands — The digital print industry in the Netherlands is booming, but its future is unclear.
The European Commission wants to protect the industry, and a draft directive aims to boost digital printing in the EU.
But many industry stakeholders say the digital printing industry is in a bad spot.
“We’re really worried about the future,” says Lars Eijssen, CEO of the Dutch digital printing trade association.
It is “very important that we protect the digital print sector, that we don’t lose this opportunity to make a lot of money,” he says.
That means not just protecting digital printing jobs but also ensuring that the digital economy is growing and that people who need to print things have access to printing equipment.
This includes not just digital printers but also print-on-demand services like e-book printing, and e-commerce services like Amazon.com.
Eijsselt believes that protecting the digital market will be a big challenge.
“The digital economy has become a really big problem for the European Union, because the digital markets are going to be more important than the digital services,” he told Al Jazeera.
But even if the digital industry is protected, Eijselt says that the future of digital printing will depend on other industries. “
We can do everything we want to do with digital printing.”
But even if the digital industry is protected, Eijselt says that the future of digital printing will depend on other industries.
Digital printing, he says, “is one of the few areas where we have some success”.
Eijsselst says it is very important that the industry is able to continue growing and he is working to see if there is an opportunity to bring digital printing into the digital sphere.
But he says there is a huge amount of uncertainty about the long-term future of the digital world, and he believes that digital printing is in trouble.
EJsselsts digital printing firm has been around since the 1980s.
Its aim is to create an online marketplace that enables consumers to order digital goods online, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that customers can print their own goods on their own.
So EJsselts digital print business is based in the city of Sidoar, about 50 kilometres (30 miles) from the Netherlands’ capital, Amsterdam.
Most of its customers are small companies.
They use the digital service to buy print materials from the company.
But EJson also sells physical goods.
And it has started offering digital printing services, which are printed on demand.
And that means the company has now become the most popular e-reader in the country.
‘We need to build the digital platform’ EJssen says that for the digital business to succeed, the online market needs to grow.
In other words, he wants to ensure that the market is sustainable.
EJesselst’s company is working on a number of initiatives to help that happen.
He has put together a digital printing platform that will allow customers to print items on demand and then deliver those orders.
His company also wants to expand its service to allow e-readers to print on demand on certain devices.
As well, he is developing a digital e-store that will sell books and other digital content.EJssens plans are to launch his new platform in October.
Ejssen has launched a few other online services in the past, like an e-library, but he says his biggest focus is on digital printing.
EJSselts online business is expected to generate up to 50 per cent of his company’s revenue.
Eijkseels digital print shop is located in a building in the town of Sidos, in the north of the Netherlands.
It is part of a bigger industrial park.
About 1,500 employees work at the site.
Ejeselts has an office on the site, where he works on the digital product side.
I want to make sure that it is the right service, he said.
He has been in the printing business since he was a child.
Ejsselts business started in 1996 and now employs about 1,300 people.
When I talk to people, they say that the whole of the business has changed.
They say they are more productive.
They are less stressed.
EJsselts is not sure how he will pay for the business, but says that it will depend how many customers he can attract and how long the business lasts.
“I’m looking forward to the future, but at the same time I am not sure about the present,” he said, adding that it was not an easy decision.
“I think that the print industry needs to be built and it needs to expand,” he added.
