The Patriots’ quarterback has confirmed he will officially retire from the NFL by 2023.

New England Patriots’ Patrick Mahoms announced on Wednesday he will formally retire from professional football after the 2019 season, according to multiple reports.

According to The Boston Globe, Mahomes said in an interview that his decision was not based on a desire to return to the game, but rather a desire for a fresh start in a new lifestyle.

Mahomes was a member of the Cleveland Browns from 2011 to 2016 and is the oldest active player in NFL history to play in all 16 seasons.
